My name is Jenna and I am a 23 year old foodie! To start, a little bit about my history with food blogs, exercise, and eating, the reason we are all here, right!?!?
I have been reading food blogs for well over a year now, and finally decided to take the plunge myself!
Foodie in the City refers to my love of spending hours and hours looking through recipes, trying new cooking methods and, most importantly, my love of BAKING! I hope that this blog challenges me to experiment in the ktichen and to come up with fun yet healthy recipes that I can share with you!
I also enjoy exploring all of the different restaurants and eats that Minneapolis and the surrounding areas have to offer. Mike (my boyfriend) and I also love to travel. So, wherever I go, I bring my ‘foodie’ love with me. I like to try local cuisine, hole in the wall restaurants and chain restaurants we don’t have in Minnesota while traveling.
This photo is of me ‘chaining’ it up in DC and experiencing the hottest of hot ‘hot sauces’ that I swear ever have existed. I was tearing up in this photo due to accidently trying the hottest sauce they had. Whoops!

I have also recently become an avid runner. I have always been into fitness. In high school I was on the swim team, played basketball as well as golf. This is me at the driving year earlier this spring (2009). It was Mike’s first time golfing, and let me tell you, his swing is AWFUL, but he can hit the ball a mile! My mom, brother and I are a huge golf family, so mamasita and I took him to the range this past spring.

After high school, my involvement in organized team sports ended. Since then, I have mostly relied on the gym to get in my workouts. After about four years of doing the same boring routine, I decided to give running a shot. I now run three times a week and find it a wonderful source of stress relief and a time to clear my head. I am not currently training for any type of running race, however, I am dabbling in the possibility of a half marathon. I figure if I can go 10 miles (my record for distance) ,what is 3.1 more miles? For some odd reason I have a fear of races, no idea why… hopefully soon I will get over that fear!
I usually give myself two days off a week from working out. The other two days in which I am not running, I will either do the elliptical, or the 30 Day Shred. I want to get into Yoga, so that is going to be a fitness goal of mine.
In terms of food, my philosophy is pretty simple. Eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full. Eat as much fresh produce and unprocessed food as you can. However, living a busy lifestyle, I know it is impossible to go throughout the day without grabbing convenient foods, and/or, a food that you are craving. So I say, LIVE A LITTLE. I have learned through many experiences in my life that it is not worth it to deprive your body and mind of good food, it leads to an unhealthy relationship with food and an unhappy relationship with yourself. As long as you enjoy everything in moderation and maintain an active lifestyle, everything will fall into place.
Everybody has their own relationship with food. With me, I am very much a grazer. Rarely will you find me eating large meals. I would much rather eat small meals and have multiple snacks and dessert everyday. However, there are days that you may see just the opposite with my eats. Bottom line is, do what is best for you, you are the only person who knows your individual needs!
On to a little bit of non-foodie background on my life! I am a born and raised aMinnesotan, don’t cha know? He he. While I may still be here, my mom is now in Dallas, and my brother is in L.A. Both are great places to visit, but it is hard having them so far away.
The photo is of my mom and I- she is by far my best friend in the whole wide world.

Of course, I love my brother just as much
. Him and my mom are my rocks. I owe much of my success and happiness in life to them, from their love and support in which they give me. Thanks you two
My brother and I are in the middle of this photo with some of our friends. Boating is one of our favorite things to do, so this photo was only fitting!

So if I have any readers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, or the L.A. area, let me know, we’ll have to schedule a bloggie meet up!
I went to the University of Minnesota and lived college life to the fullest. I joined a sorority and was very active on campus. Along the way, I met some of the best friends a girl could ask for. We got into our fair share of trouble
. Annnnd, we still do, of course!

My boyfriend Mike and I just moved in together for the first time, in the beginning of August. We live downtown Minneapolis- oh so convenient for work and play! Aww, isn’t he a cutie? He works in sales for a company that works with all of the major food companies across the country. How lucky is he??

I graduated in 2008 with a degree in Marketing. Since then, I have been working downtown, working the corporate America 8-5 grind.
And that is pretty much it! (However, I am secretly pushing for a dog… Mike said we can get one as long as it is a bulldog, he LOVES bulldogs). Look at this adorable site we saw on vacation once. Yes, that is an owner feeding her bulldog a popsicle.

I hope you enjoy reading Foodie in the City!
-Jenna
