Pizza, Pizza!

There is something about pizza that makes me relax.  Maybe it is because growing up, we always had pizza on Friday nights while we watched TGIF?  Oh the memories. Makes me happy. :)

These days, regardless of the day of the week, pizza always makes me feel and act like it is the weekend.   What more could you want after a Monday than a comforting, relaxing dinner?

We made homemade crust, using Jenna’s recipe for The Best Pizza Dough. It really is up there with the best pizza doughs around.  We like to make our crust a bit thicker, a mix between a regular and deep dish style.  The dough is soft with a crunchy exterior.  So good, and good for you.  Why use processed dough or crust when you can easily make yours with ingredients you most likely already have on hand?

Mike loves pizza and has tried pretty much every and any kind, brand, restaurant, etc., there is around. And every time we have homemade pizza using this dough, he raves about it. ‘There just isn’t a better pizza around. Nobody can make a crust like this’. And… ‘Think about what a gold mine it would be if they could sell pizza’s that tasted this good in the store’. Awww, babe.

Pizza toppings include…

  • Turkey pepperoni
  • Green bell pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Green onion
  • Tomato
  • Jalepenos
  • Banana peppers
  • Mozzerella
  • Cheddar

What we do is bake the crust by itself for 5 minutes at 425 degrees.  Pull it out, place all the toppings on (sky high if you are at our house), and bake for another 12 minutes.  Makes the perfect pizza.

This pizza is filling. With our thick crust and loads of veggies piled high, it does the trick for a grumblig stomach.

What is your favorite comfort food? Salty would probably be baked macaroni and cheese.  Sweet would have to be chocolate cake!
